Noble friends,
Today Wikipedia's "Did You Know" section offers a link to a page about *Les*
*Heures de Boussu* (English: "Hours of Boussu"), a late 15th century
devotional work.
The Book of Hours was created post-1490 for Isabelle de Lalaing, a Belgian
noblewoman. It is a tiny book, around 6 X 4 inches, containing 378 leaves.
Most leaves are richly decorated with flowers, fruits, birds, insects,
animals, angels, zodiac signs and occasional human figures. Among the
illustrations are 26 full-page miniatures depicting saints or
major biblical events.
The work is preserved at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, and has been
completely digitized.
Wikipedia offers a page about the Hours of Boussu at

The entire work can be viewed page-by-page including all the fantastic
illustrations at

to scribes: this book is a great source for illumination ideas.
