Noble Friends,

Big news! The British Museum has successfully raised the £3.5 million
needed to buy the heart-shaped Henry VIII-Katherine of Aragon pendant.

The dingus was discovered by . . . wait for it . . . a metal detectorist
(who else?) during 2019 in Warwickshire. The elaborate engraved and
enameled piece of gold bling unites Henry's Tudor rose symbol with
Katherine's pomegranate. Ironically it includes the French word *toujours*
("always"), but we all know about his many wives. The pendant is one of the
few surviving reminders of Henry and Katherine's marriage, most having been
destroyed as Henry didn't want to be reminded of his first wife.

You can see the piece at https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c5yk3vrgv51o .

Yours Aye,
