Noble friends,
Today the English history community is celebrating the likely discovery of
the last Anglo-Saxon king's residence, and apparent confirmation comes from
an indoor toilet.
A stylized depiction of Harold Godwinson's palace is shown twice in the
Bayeux Tapestry. Researchers had long suspected that the royal residence
was located near Holy Trinity Church in Bosham, West Sussex. Recent
excavations there revealed the remains of a large wooden structure with an
indoor toilet, surely a mark of very high status. No drafty outhouses for
his royal bum!

Both pieces feature some very interesting illustrations.
