Noble Friends, Especially Scots and Vikings,

Today the BBC offered a brief article on a possible translation of runes
found on one of the Galloway Viking hoard pieces.

An arm band has an inscription that has been translated as "This is the
community's wealth [or property]." This suggests that the treasure could
have been the property of a monastic settlement. This idea is supported by
the pectoral cross and the elaborate rock crystal jar known to have been
made for a Bishop named Hygauld.

Part of the Hoard is currently on a world tour. The exhibition opens today
in Adelaide, Australia.
