Noble Friends, especially lovers of all things nautical,

Today the BBC is offering a brief film clip on the arrival of a replica
Spanish galleon to Great Yarmouth. The ship is a replica 17th century
design, perhaps only slightly removed from ships of the famous (or
infamous, depending on your point of view) Spanish Armada of 1588, or the
generally forgotten Armadas of 1596 and 1597. King Philip of Spain was
certainly persistent. This galleon, however, came in peace.

The ship is named the Galeon Andalucia (sorry for the missing accent
marks), and was built in 2009. The galleon is on a goodwill tour of Europe.

But wait! Watch closely as the ship "sails" into the harbor -- completely
without sails! There must be a diesel engine hidden somewhere on a lower
deck. Still impressive though.

Yours Aye,
