[MR] History Blog: Anglo-Saxon 6th C. Sword Found in Kent

Yesterday's History Blog reported on the discovery of a nearly-intact sword
found during excavation of a 6th century Anglo-Saxon cemetery in Kent.

The sword is in a remarkable state of preservation, and is marked with
runes. While not quite as ornately decorated, the Kent weapon has been
compared to the sword found in the famous ship burial at Sutton Hoo.

The excavation at a secret location has so far found 12 graves, all loaded
with grave goods. There are an estimated 200 graves at the site.
