[MR] History Blog: Viking Grave Found in Backyard

Noble Friends, especially Vikings,

According to the History Blog, a couple in Setesdal, Norway, found a Viking
grave in their backyard while doing a home-improvement project.

The homeowners first encountered a large slab just below the topsoil, then
found a sword blade and separated hilt. At this point they stopped digging
and alerted authorities. An archaeologist dated the sword to the late 9th
or early 10th century. Other grave goods included a lance, beads, and a
belt buckle. No human remains have so far been recovered.
