Noble Friends,

On this day in 1566 (or maybe yesterday, he died during the night) Michel
de Nostredame (aka Nostradamus) expired from gout and edema.

Nostradamus (1503-1566) was a French physician and apothecary, but is most
famous as an astrologer and soothsayer to the rich and famous of his day.
His "Prophesies", were series of rather vague predictions which remain rich
fodder for writers of supermarket tabloid articles.

Nostradamus was said to have predicted his own death, but that one was
easy, as he was very ill and only a few days from his last gasp. After his
passing, this "prediction" was backdated and "improved" to seem more
mystical. And so, he continues to confound us with his "accurate"
predictions, which are recycled regularly to fit the latest catastrophe or
war. (Sigh!)

You can read more at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nostradamus .

Yours Aye,

Mungo Napier, Laird of Mallard Lodge 🦆
