Noble Friends,

Today's History Blog announced the digital publication of Fra Mauro's
mid-15th century mappa mundi. This huge and highly detailed map was created
by monks at the monastery of San Michele on Isola. The map became an icon
of the power and prestige of nearby Venice.

Fra Mauro's map is fully interactive on many levels, and includes links to
other period maps and documents which explore the period's knowledge,
trade, politics and culture. You could geek out on the site for hours!

The History Blog article is at http://www.thehistoryblog.com .

The map itself is linked through the blog, or you can go to it directly at
https://mostre.museogalileo.it/framauro/en/ . Caution: it takes several
minutes to load, but every one of those minutes will be worthwhile. This is
definitely a site to bookmark, as you aren't going to be able to see
everything in a single sitting.

Yours Aye,

Lord Mungo Napier, Laird of Mallard Lodge 🦆
