Noble Friends,

The UK's Arts Minister has put a temporary block on the export of a 14th
century carved ivory casket. The block will allow time for a UK museum to
match its £1,506,000 assessed value and keep the box in Great Britain.

The ivory box is elaborately carved with bas relief scenes from the Grail
legend, and is one of only nine similar boxes known to survive. The style
of the carvings suggests the box was created in Paris around 330. It has
been owned by the Baird family of Scotland since the early 17th century.

Yours Aye,

Mungo Napier, Laird of Mallard Lodge 🦆
