Noble Friends,

A medieval fishing boat that was blown to pieces in WWII has been restored
at the Leeds Discovery Center in England.

In 1863 the boat was found buried on a Yorkshire farm near the salubriously
named Giggleswick Tarn, and was donated to the Leeds City Museum. It was
blown into 45 pieces by a German bomb in 1941. Some fragments eventually
went to the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich for study, where it was
determined that the boat was a dug-out carved from a single tree around
1335. The pieces were returned to Leeds in 1988. Now the boat has finally
been reassembled and placed on display.
