Noble Friends,

Today the History Blog features a 10th century Andalusian treasure hoard
which was saved from the black market. The treasure came to the attention
of authorities when it was offered for sale on social media. The police
swept in and saved the hoard from being lost.

The treasure consists of 98 pieces of gold, silver or gilt jewelry and 623
gems and beads. There are no coins, suggesting these had already been sold
off. The prize of the jewelry is a gold Star of David pendant of exquisite
workmanship. No other piece like it has ever been seen.

Some enlargeable photos of the treasure accompany the History Blog story at
http://www.thehistoryblog.com/archives/60972 .

Yours Aye,

Lord Mungo Napier, Laird of Mallard Lodge 🦆
