Noble Friends, Especially Vikings,

Today the History Blog feature is all about a small Viking treasure hoard
found by a metal detectorist on the Isle of Man. The hoard is small, just
two pieces. They are a solid gold arm ring and a huge cloak brooch a pin
long enough to almost be a weapon of last resort. Historians have
tentatively dated the two items to around 950.

The two items were found in December, but have just now been declared
treasure. No monetary value has been set on the two items yet, but their
cultural and historic significance is huge.

Here is the History Blog story: http://www.thehistoryblog.com/archives/60821
.

Yours Aye,

Lord Mungo Napier, Laird of Mallard Lodge 🦆
(Whose own metal detector can't even find lost arrows in the grass)
