Noble Friends,

Lewis Kirkbride, described as a "medieval fan", recently walked from York
to Hastings in full 11th century armor to call attention to, and raise
funds for, men's mental health. His route matched the 20-day march by
Harold Godwinson and his Anglo-Saxon army as they rushed south to confront
William, Duke of Normandy in 1066. We all know how that ended.

The story goes on to talk about Harold and the dangers he faced in his
brief reign. As Mr. Kirkbride intended, Harold's sad tale, and his sadder
end with an arrow sticking out of his eye, parallel the many emotional
dangers faced by men today.

You can read the whole story and see Mr. Kirkbride's garb and kit at

Yours Aye,

Lord Mungo Napier, Laird of Mallard Lodge 🦆
