Noble Friends, Especially Vikings,
Today the Ancient Origins website has a very interesting article
summarizing Norse discovery and settlement of Iceland. The article draws on
the "Islendingabok" ("Book of the Icelanders") and the "Landnamabok" ("Book
of Settlements"), two 12th century histories which are the basic works in
Icelandic history and genealogy.
The article is illustrated, some contemporary images and others more
modern, and thankfully none of the Vikings wear horny helmets. The story is
excerpted from a work by John Haywood, NORTHMEN: THE VIKING SAGA, 783-1241
(Thomas Dunne Books, 2016).
The Ancient Origins article and its illustrations is found at

Yours Aye,
Lord Mungo Napier, Laird of Mallard Lodge 🦆
