Noble Friends,

Rembrandt's famous painting erroneously known as "The Nightwatch" has been
under restoration at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. It will be on show again
starting 1 June when the museum reopens.

Today BBC Will Gompertz posted a long and detailed story about new
discoveries in Rembrandt's iconic painting. Restorers at the Rijksmuseum
took over 500 detailed photographs, allowing examination of the tiniest
cracks and paint blobs. It is so detailed that Captain Cocq's eyeball
reveals four colors just in the glint alone.

The BBC story is at https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-52657164 .

The detailed painting is at

. If you click on the painting, you can do down nine layers, until you are
looking at individual dots of pigment.

A page with 10 facts you might not have known about the painting is found
