Noble Friends,

Today the History Blog reports on restorations at Hampton Court Palace.
This exquisite Tudor confection originally belonged to Cardinal Wosley,
Henry VIII's Lord Chancellor. Henry coveted it, so Henry got it. The good
Cardinal himself almost "got it", only escaping the block by dying on the
way to answer charges of treason. Henry loved his new palace so much, he
changed almost everything. Go figure.

The most complete room from the Cardinal's time is the Wolsey Closet, now
undergoing conservation and restoration. For a fascinating story and video
on the room and its decorations, go to

You can read more about the palace at

More about Cardinal Wolsey and his fall from grace is at

Yours Aye,

Mungo Napier, Laird of Mallard Lodge 🦆
