Yep. Having it be it's own web page is totally a Good Thing. I applaud
that part.
A mailing list serves the function of a reliable means of putting
information in people's hands. Reminders and notices.
Facebook fails miserably at that. And Facebook presents significant
issues that keep a meaningful number of people from using it at all.
