Noble Friends,
Back in March I posted a link to a History Blog story on the Night Watchman
of Lausanne, one of the last in Europe. Lausanne's Night Watchman continues
to make news in his quiet way during this age of Covid-19. Recently the BBC
posted a similar story on his job, and on similar "horn blowers" in Ripon,
England. These stories make interesting reading for any Scadian.
The BBC story is found at
http://www.bbc.com/travel/story/20200702-the-last-night-watchmen-of-europe .
In case you want a review, or missed the earlier History Blog story, here
is the link: http://www.thehistoryblog.com/archives/58245 .
A separate story on Ripon's Horn Blowers is at
http://www.bbc.co.uk/northyorkshire/content/articles/2008/07/10/ripon_hornblower_history_feature.shtml
.
You can thank Lady Sarah Sinclair for locating the current Lausanne story.
