Noble Friends,

Today the History Blog reports on a piece of positive news that can give us
hope in these dark times. The London Stone has been returned to display at
111 Cannon Street.

The stone features in a mythological history of London and Britain
associated with a fake king named Brutus, supposedly the first king of
Britain. It is recorded in documents dating from the 12th century, was
mentioned by Shakespeare, has survived the Great Fire of 1666, came through
WWII bombings, has been moved a number of times, and has been loved,
reviled and largely ignored by most Londoners. Quite a history of a piece
of limestone.

Today it is back on display in a new shrine:
http://www.thehistoryblog.com/archives/58275 . Don't miss the Museum of
London's brief YouTube video which is linked through the History Blog story.

Yours Aye,

Mungo Napier, Laird of Mallard Lodge 🦆
