Noble Friends,

Today the History Blog features a story about the discovery of what is now
the oldest known astrolabe. The dingus was found on the 1503 wreck of the
Esmerelda, one of the ships used by Vasco Da Gama on his second voyage to
India. Not only is the piece old, it has many unique features including the
heraldic arms of Portuguese King Manuel I.

The whole story if found at http://www.thehistoryblog.com/archives/54612 .

Yours Aye,

Mungo Napier, Laird of Mallard Lodge 🦆
