Thanks for another fascinating post!

What a miracle for sure a fragile collection of paper to survive so long intact. Loved reading this!

Noble friends,

Today the History Blog reports on the restoration of the paper cartoon used
for Raphael's enormous "School of Athens" fresco in the Vatican. Raphael's
full-sized charcoal study is on 210 sheet of paper. Somehow it has survived
the ages, including countless wars, and theft by Napoleon. Subject to an
extensive restoration program by its owner, the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana in
Milan, the cartoon will return to public display on 27 March.

More on the School of Athens can be found at
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_School_of_Athens . For those Atlantians
who would like to experience the grandeur of the painting, but can't afford
a trip to Italy, copies can be viewed at the University of Virginia in
Charlottesville, Virginia, and the University of North Carolina in
Ashville, North Carolina.
