Noble Friends,

A few years ago a 15th century shop building owned by Peterhouse College,
Cambridge, was in danger of collapse. The building, known as Tunwell Court,
was Grade II listed, but had endured many clunky changes over the years.
Peterhouse decided to do a complete restoration for use as student
apartments. You can see before-and-after photos that show how a typical
middle-class merchant family would have been housed in the mid-1400s, plus
some interesting finds from later in the building's history.

I might add that the Grade Listing papers for this building claim it is
16th century, but who wants to quibble about a hundred years?

The story is at https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-cambridgeshire-47845898

A few additional images will pop up if you search Google for "tunwell court
cambridge images" .

Yours Aye,

Mungo Napier, Laird of Mallard Lodge 🦆
