Noble Friends,

This may not be strictly period, but The Tower of London looms (so to
speak) over much of English history.

Today the BBC has announced that a captive breeding program will be set up
to provide replacement ravens for The Tower. By edict of Charles II, at
least six ravens must be on duty at the Tower, and if the ravens ever
leave, the nation will fall. To prevent calamity, The Tower has jobbed out
its ravens from private breeders. There are almost no breeders left, and
heaven forbid that ravens should be imported from foreign places. These
have to be proper British ravens.

You can read the whole story and see a photo at
https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-london-45576051 . Saucy birds, those
ravens.

Yours Aye,

Mungo Napier, Laird of Mallard Lodge 🦆
