Noble Friends,

Today the History Blog is reporting on the sale of a miniature painting
depicting the English fire ships attacking the Spanish Armada. The painting
was probably done by a Dutch artist around 1600. It is one of only two
miniatures depicting the sea battle.

The whole story is found at http://www.thehistoryblog.com/archives/52674 .
Note that the image of the painting itself is a hot link to a full-screen
version. In the blow up, Queen Elisabeth and probably her favorite Robert
Dudlley appear on horseback at the lower right.

Yours Aye,

Mungo Napier, Laird of Mallard Lodge 🦆
