Noble Friends, Especially Fellow Scots:

Today BBC is reporting the discovery of a medieval-era doorway to a sea
cave below Culzean Castle. The cave system has two entrances, and one was
already known to have had a door. The doors might have been used to receive
both smuggled and legal goods from ships during the 15th and 16th
centuries: https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-45361704 .

Culzean Castle, in its current form, is an 18th century baronial fantasy.
In earlier times a typical Scottish tower house stood on the site, parts of
which were apparently the nucleus around which the current building was
built: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Culzean_Castle .

And the castle may be haunted by at least seven ghosties. How can you have
a castle in Scotland without at least one?

Yours Aye,

Mungo Napier, Laird of Mallard Lodge 🦆
