Noble Friends,
The BBC recently offered a story on a project by the University of Cardiff
to read a highly damaged parchment scroll using X-ray tomography. Similar
to CT used in medicine, the machine was able to scan individual layers of
the parchment revealing the iron gall ink which are being pieced back
together and cleaned up by computer programs.
What the scroll says has not yet been announced by the university. It will
probably take a while to process: https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-wales-45734251
