Noble Friends,

Lady Sophie, a non-Merry Rose correspondent, sent me a very interesting
piece from the History Blog concerning a study of the rations carried on
16th-17th C ships. A team from Texas A&M University exploring a 1619
shipwreck gathered data on the ships' food, drink and water rations. They
then recreated the rations as closely as possible, including their storage
vessels, and placed them aboard a 19th C sailing ship for several months to
study how the foods fared.

You can read about their methods and some of their conclusions at

Yours Aye,

Mungo Napier, Laird of Mallard Lodge 🦆
