Noble Friends,

Today the BBC has a short piece on a medieval bishop's ring, possibly
associated with Beverly Minster in Yorkshire. The ring was found by a metal
detectorist, and is expected to fetch £10,000 or more. To see the bauble go

.

Also shown in this story is a heart-shaped brooch that was presented by
Baron William Hastings to his bride Katherine Neville in 1462, and was
later lost. Baron Hastings was beheaded on the order of Richard III during
one of his frequent purges. The brooch sold at auction for £20,800. The
full story is found at

Yours Aye,

Mungo Napier, Laird of Mallard Lodge
