Noble Friends,

On this day in 1502, Arthur, Prince of Wales, died at Ludlow Castle from
"the sweating sickness", whatever that may have been. Arthur was the son of
King Henry VII, and was just 15 years old. Upon his death, his younger
brother Henry became Prince of Wales, and eventually succeeded to the
throne as Henry VIII.

You can read more about Arthur at https://en.wikipedia.org/
wiki/Arthur,_Prince_of_Wales

Arthur was buried in a magnificent chantry in Worcester Priory (now
Worcester Cathedral). Henry VIII spared the church during the dissolution
of the monasteries because of his brother's tomb. For more about Worcester
Cathedral see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Worcester_Cathedral or
http://worcestercathedral.co.uk/Heritage.php .

Worcester Cathedral also houses the tomb of Bad King John.

Yours Aye,

Mungo Napier, Laird of Mallard Lodge 🦆
