Noble Friends,

On this date in 935, Wenceslaus I, Duke of Bohemia, was assassinated by his younger brother Boleslaus. Yes, that’s the same Wenceslaus of the famous Christmas carol. You will have to read the Wikipedia entry to find out how he was elevated to the status of “king”: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wenceslaus_I,_Duke_of_Bohemia . Other than the Christmas carol, his reputation as a just ruler was part of what made him a saint, and today he is considered the Patron Saint of the Czech Republic.
