Noble Friends,

Today the BBC is offering a very interesting little travel piece on the
secret tunnel which connected the famed author Niccolò Machiavelli's
country house to a seedy tavern where he drank, gambled, possibly
wenched, and studied human behavior while writing his famous book THE
PRINCE. Machiavelli was exiled from Florence by the Medicis, and was
allowed to stay on a humble farm not far from the city. The tunnel
allowed the disguised author to visit the tavern in secrecy. The house
is now a museum to Machiavelli, and the tavern remains in all its
medieval glory. Enjoy the story and photos at

Yours Aye,

Lord Mungo Napier, That Crazy Scot
