Noble Friends,

The National Assembly for Wales has decided to rename itself the Welsh
Parliament. The formal bill is expected to be passed before the next
election.

This is, of course, modern news, but it harkens back to the last Welsh
Parliament which met in 1404. During his rebellion against Henry IV,
Owain Glyndŵr called a parliament at Machynlleth, Powys. His parliament
proclaimed Owain Prince of Wales. The title didn't stick for long
though. Henry IV, assisted by his son (later Henry V) managed to stamp
out the Welsh rebellion over the next few years.

You can read a brief story about Owain Glyndŵr's parliament and
rebellion at http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-wales-politics-40264766 .

Wikipedia offers a biography of Glyndŵr at
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Owain_Glyndŵr .

Yours Aye,

Mungo Napier, Laird of Mallard Lodge
