BBC offers an illustrated feature on the Knights Templar. The article
explains (briefly) how the Templars invented the modern banking system
over 1,000 years ago with their letters of credit. The article goes on
to touch upon the great Fair of Lyon, noted as the beginning of trading
in debt through bills of exchange, the basis of today's credit card
