Noble Friends, Especially Fellow Scots:

Scotland has held the Stone of Scone or Stone of Destiny since it was
returned from Westminster Abbey in 1996. Thought to be the coronation
stone of Scotland, it was stolen by Edward I in 1296 during his bid to
conquer the country (You know, Braveheart, and all that stuff). Now the
Scots are debating whether the Stone should stay at Edinburgh Castle, or
be moved to a new home in Perth. While it is mostly recent history, the
BBC story covers the return of the Stone of Scone and makes interesting
reading (plus some cool photos):
http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-38064299 .

For more about the Stone of Scone, try this Wikipedia page:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stone_of_Scone . Of course, the Stone may
actually be a substitute, the real stone perhaps never leaving Scotland
and is today lost.

For more about the 1950 "theft" of the Stone, see this story:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Removal_of_the_Stone_of_Scone_in_1950 .
Yea, Scottish patriots! What cheek!

Yours Aye,

Lord Mungo Napier, That Proud Scot
