Noble Friends,

On this date in 1307 Pope Clement V issued a Papal Bull ordering all 
Christian monarchs to arrest the Knights Temlar and to seize their 
assets on behalf of the Church. This led to the dissolution of the 
Templar order, and torture and execution of many Knights. Their property 
was generally given to the Knights Hospitaller, except in France where 
it mostly went into the purse of King Philip IV who had initially 
stirred up the persecution to avoid repaying loans owed to the Templars.
