Noble Friends,

An illuminated book of fables and moral tales known as the 'Aberdeen
Bestiary" has been digitized. This book is thought to have been seized
and then owned by Henry VIII after the dissolution of the monasteries
and may date from as early as 1200. It somehow ended up in Scotland in
the 17th century, thus the name. You can read the brief story and enjoy
some of the wonderful illustrations at:
http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-north-east-orkney-shetland-37848382 .

For more about the book, and to see the whole digitized version, go to
http://www.abdn.ac.uk/bestiary/ . Note the link "About", which leads to
a very interesting discussion about how this book might have been used,
and about bestiaries in general. Fascinating stuff.

Yours Aye,

Lord Mungo Napier, That Crazy Scot
