Unto Your Majesties of Atlantia, King Dietrich and Queen Thora, Your
Highnesses of Atlantia, Prince William and Princess Alyna, and the good
populace of Atlantia does Cian Triton, Principal Herald, send greetings!

It was a hot, muggy day at Ruby Joust, held the weekend of May 27-30 in
the Barony of Caer Mear.On Saturday morning, May 28, His Majesty
processed into court along with Their Excellencies of Caer Mear and
Their Highnesses of Atlantia. Her Majesty, Queen Thora, galloped in to
court on a beautiful horse, showing that she is not only a fierce
warrior Queen, but is a darn fine equestrian as well!

A Royal Court was opened by Their Majesties, who proceeded to welcome
everyone, and promised that this would be a short court so as not to
keep people out in the sun too long.

Hugo von Guttenbach was called in before Their Majesties, who spoke
highly of his prowess on the field of battle. They were sufficiently
impressed to award him a Silver Osprey, and welcome him to the ranks of
the nobility.

Lord Alain de la Rochelle was summoned into court, where Their Majesties
spoke kind words concerning Lord Alain’s recent loss of his beloved
horse, Bogart. Many Atlantians have fond memories of the horse that was a
true Atlantian. As Bogart supported Alain and the Kingdom, Their
Majesties decreed that henceforth, Lord Alain de la Rochelle will be
entitled to the use of supporters of his heraldry, which shall take the
form of Bogart.A visibly moved Lord Alain thanked Their Majesties, and
asked permission to read a very touching tribute to his friend and
companion, and there were few, if any, dry eyes during that moment.Lord
Alain was also presented with a special belt favor bearing the image of
Bogart.Atlantia mourns the loss of this noble steed, and we rejoice in
the find memories we have of him.

Before anything else could happen in court, a loud horn was heard, and a
wounded knight and companion were seen walking into court.Their
Majesties summoned Their guards forward, uncertain of this noble’s
intentions. As they drew closer, King Dietrich recognized the heraldry on
the banner carried by the knight’s companion, and told the guards to
stand down.(SEE????This is why heraldry is important!!!!)The knight
identified himself as Sir Gunnar Redboar, an emissary and ambassador of
King Cameron, of the Middle Kingdom. He had travelled far distances to
carry a message from his King, asking for Atlantia’s help in defending
the Midrealm in a battle to be fought this summer in the Lands of
Cooper.Their Majesties conferred, and agreed that Atlantia will ally
with the Middle Kingdom this summer, and so They directed the Atlantian
Warlord, Sir Roussell, to prepare the armies and the longships for a
battle that Atlantia’s enemies will never forget.

Relieved at these words, Sir Gunnar asked for space to rest, and fresh
horses to begin his long journey home to report to his King the good
tidings from Atlantia. These were granted by the King and Queen, and Sir
Gunnar and companion retired.

Their Majesties then had Their herald summon before them, the one known
as the Norse Nugget, also known as Shrewlet, and formally known as
Baroness Elizabeth of Rosewood. As Baroness Elizabeth knelt before Them,
she was asked if it was still her intention to sit vigil and contemplate
joining the Order of the Pelican.Baroness Elizabeth affirmed that it
was, and so Their Majesties bade Their herald to close Their court as
They proceeded to escort Baroness Elizabeth to her place of vigil.

Following a long, hot day of intense activities, Their Majesties did
show the wisdom that Atlantians expect of their Monarchs by having
Evening court set up in the nice, cool, shady ravine area.Court was a
Great Court, with the assembled Baronages already in place up
front.Their Majesties processed in, along with Their Highnesses, to take
Their rightful place up front. After bidding the populace to be seated,
Their Majesties had the Calvary come forward to take up station just off
to the side of court.Words of welcome came forth from the King and
Queen, who exuberantly spoke of the fun and enjoyment They had this day.

The Kingdom Exchequer, Lady Alana Urquart, was called forth to give her
Oath of Fealty.

Lord Dreux d’Anjou was summoned into court, where Their Majesties
explained that Lord Dreux had previously begged to be allowed to start
an official knitting guild, and that after consultation with Their
Advisors, Their Majesties were well pleased to formally grant a charter
for the formation of the Company of the Clewe, a formal knitting guild
of the Kingdom of Atlantia.A beautiful scroll containing the charter was
read and displayed.

Heloise De Bruyeres was called into the Royal Presence, and was thanked
for her skills in coordinating and chatelaining, and Their Majesties
awarded her Arms.

4 special children were called before Their Majesties to be recognized
for their good works and labors.Long Slayer was given the Award of the
Sea Urchin, and Corryn McGregor, Ailia Utgaard, and Bera of Caer Mear
were all inducted into the Order of the Hippocampus.

The remaining children present were invited into court, and it seemed
like the stream would never end.Lord Hugo was tasked with the job of
carrying the toy box, and after a slight head start, the children were
allowed to chase him down. The children all picked out toys, and Lord
Hugo is being given a long rest while his body heals.

Lord Bryan Morgan was commanded to appear in court, and Their Majesties
thanked him for the service that he does, and awarded him an Opal.Queen
Thora then informed him that he had more service to do, which was to
find and escort Baroness Dolce dei Brachi into court.

Baroness Dolce’s work with Birka knots and wire weaving, and her
willingness to teach the same caused Their Majesties to do the only
thing They could do…to summon the Order of the Pearl and induct Her
Excellency into that noble Order.Lord Bryan Morgan presented Baroness
Dolce with his own Pearl medallion.

The autocrat was summoned to come before the populace and give his
report on the day’s activities. The official count for attendance at this
event was 650, which is a tremendous number! He thanked his staff and
those who attended, and then turned to allow Their Excellencies of Caer
Mear to present the various awards that were earned this day.

The newcomers were invited to come before the thrones, and there were
quite a number of them.Their Majesties were impressed by the number,
and, along with Their Highnesses, spent several minutes greeting each
newcomer and providing them with a token to remember this day by.

Their Majesties had Mistress Tannis of Tir-Y-Don summoned to come before
Them.Mistress Tannis, who was assisting the herald by wrangling scroll,
did a nice, slow turn-and-burn, and the expression on her face was
priceless. She came before Their Majesties, who informed her that the
Baron and Baroness of Caer Mear had a gift for her.Their Excellencies
came forth and presented Mistress Tannis with a basket. An empty basket,
save for a card.Their Majesties did not feel that this was a significant
enough gift for someone like Mistress Tannis, so They had the remaining
Barons and Baronesses called forth, who proceeded to swarm her and fill
her basket with chocolate.Much laughter and many hugs were given, and
this was a “Thank You” for assistance that Mistress Tannis had given the
Baronages at Crown Tourney. The debt has now been paid.

Lady Juliana ad Aquam was called forth from the seated populace, and was
awarded the Opal, because, as His Majesty put it, she does “All the Things!”

Lord Eoin macEadbhard and Rhiannon of Raven’s Cove, were commanded to
appear before the thrones, and they were both thanked for the service
they do for Barony and Kingdom, and each were awarded an Opal.(Side note
– both are heralds, and I am proud of them!)

Their Majesties had Lady Sadb inghen Conchabair called into court, where
They spoke of her amazing works with fiber, and thus felt the time was
right to award her a Coral Branch.

Lord John Biggehved and Winifred merch Ifan were called into court
together and praised for the work they have done and time spent helping
others, whether on the field as a marshal or helping out in the
kitchen. It was truly a touching moment to watch a father and a daughter
both receive the Opal at the same time.

Before the last person could be called into court, the Triton Herald
asked Their Majesties for a boon.It seems that the next person to be
called in was not only a close friend of Triton, but was also his
protégé sister, and he asked if he might be allowed to set aside his
tabard briefly, and go forth to herald her into court, rather than
simply calling her into court.Their Majesties, being the benevolent
monarchs that They are, readily agreed, and the Triton Herald stepped
from behind the thrones and went out to the populace.

Words of praise and accolade, with only 1 or 2 short jokes thrown in,
were used to bring Her Excellency, Baroness Elizabeth of Rosewood, into
Royal Court, accompanied by friend and family. As she knelt before the
thrones, Their Majesties asked her if she had contemplated properly
during her vigil, and if it was her desire to be elevated to the Order
of the Pelican.Baroness Elizabeth said that it was.Dame Morwenna
Trevethan and Sir Iain Monloch came forth to release Baroness Elizabeth
from fealty to them, and to express how proud they both were.

Many notable Peers came forward to speak on Baroness Elizabeth’s behalf,
each of them proclaiming that she is truly deserving of being a Peer of
the Realm.

A cowl, handmade by Lady Sarah Bryghton was brought forth and laid
across her shoulders.A medallion was produced from around the neck of
Dame Morwenna and given to Their Majesties to place on Baroness
Elizabeth.A stunningly beautiful scroll and depiction of her arms in
full achievement, both created by Baron Wulfstan Egweald, were presented
to her.The Order of the Pelican was commanded to come forth and greet
the newest member of the flock, Dame Elizabeth of Rosewood!

Believing that to be a good note to end court on, Their Majesties had
royal court closed, and processed out along with Their Royal Highnesses.

Thus ends my report of the day’s activities on the Saturday of Ruby
Joust.Any errors or misspellings are completely mine, and this report is
accurate to the best of my knowledge.
