A week or so ago I called your attention to the English town of Thame 
and its restoration of the municipal stocks as a tourist draw. Today the 
BBC has followed this story with an examination of other grim means of 
punishment, most dating to the middle ages. This article discusses and 
displays photos of ducking stools, whipping posts gallows and other 
scary remnants of civic revenge in England. I can hardly recommend you
