Noble Friends,

Today in 1570, the Scottish regent of James Stewart was assassinated by 
James Hamilton, a supporter of deposed Mary Queen of Scots. The murder 
was the first known assassination using firearms:

This was another innovation by the very cleaver Scots, though one of 
which we shouldn't be especially proud.
