Noble Friends,

Today is the anniversary of the Battle of Crécy in 1346. A small 
archer-heavy English army led personally by King Edward III slaughtered 
a much larger French army of knights supported by spearmen and Genoese 
mercenary crossbowmen: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Crécy . 
This was the first of the three great English archery triumphs in the 
Hundred Years' War, the others being Poitiers and Agincourt.
