Noble Friends,
Today is the 500th anniversary of the Bavarian Beer Purity law known in
German as the Reinheitsgebot. The law stated that only barley, hops and
water could be used in the production of beer (cultivated yeasts were
later allowed). This separated barley used for beer from wheat and rye
reserved for baking, and prevented shortages caused by competition in
the grain markets. The law was eventually applied across unified
Germany, but many exceptions were made for other styles of beer. It
remains the standard for German bottom-fermented lager and pilsner
beers: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reinheitsgebot .
For the past three years, the Shire of Isenfir has hosted their main
event, Gemütlichplatz, in honor of this law:

been made to hold the event again next year.
Yours Aye,
Lord Mungo Napier, That Crazy Scot (who prefers stouts and porters)
