[MR] Wikipedia: 1534 Act of Supremacy

Noble Friends,

On this date in 1534, the English Parliament passed the Act of 
Supremacy, making Henry VIII the supreme head of the church in England, 
and displacing the authority of the Pope:

all tied to Henry's dispute with the church over whether he could 
divorce Catherine of Aragon and marry someone else, apparently anybody 
else though at that point it was Anne Boleyn, who could give him a male 
heir. This law was a game changer, making England into the foremost 
Protestant state and altering the course of European history.
