My Noble Friends,

Recently BBC has been offering this text and photo feature:
http://www.bbc.com/travel/story/20150714-where-the-human-fish-lurks . It
is a tourism piece about caverns in Slovenia. You might think this has
nothing to do with the SCA, but note the really cool castle on the
opening screen. This is Predjama Castle which dates to around 1300,
though the current version is from 1570. This photo is repeated without
all the verbiage further down the page, and the text includes a brief
history of this remarkable castle. Interestingly, the author made at
least two references to Tolkien's stories in the text, but missed the
similarity of Predjama Castle similarity to Helm's Deep.

So if this whets your appetite, here's more on Predjama Castle:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Predjama_Castle , and here are two more
sites to keep you occupied this evening:
http://www.burger.si/Predjama/ENGPredjama.html and
http://www.castles.nl/predjama-castle .

That last site is a general page about castles, and there are tons more
to explore!

Yours Aye,

Lord Mungo Napier, That Crazy Scot
