Noble Friends,

Today in 1469 the first Order of St. Michael (French: Ordre de
Saint-Michel) was founded by Louis XI, King of France. The order was a
direct competitor to Burgundy's Order of the Golden Fleece, itself a
copy of the English Order of the Garter:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Order_of_Saint_Michael .

There is a partial list of members with this article. Note how many
Scots are listed. Some of these men were probably among the many Scots
given lands in France for their military and diplomatic service. Others
are likely a reflection of Auld Alliance between France and Scotland
against England.

Yours Aye,

Lord Mungo Napier, That Crazy Scot
