Greetings sisters and brothers of the bow, and those who support the
extremely fun activity of archery!
We want to send our heartfelt thanks to those of you who assisted with this
year's Southern Atlantian Archery Day, (SAAD). It was a fantastic success,
thanks to you.
46 archers submitted scores, and about another 20 archers shot just for
fun. We had representation from three Kingdoms, as visitors from Meridies
and Trimaris joined us for the fun. The current DEM for archery in
Trimaris was particularly interested in how we run archery events, and will
bring the knowledge back to her home Kingdom to share. Also in attendence
was a Trimaris Rose who is interested in building up their archery program.
One of the comments made was that they loved the way we included the
children in every part of the event and that she noticed, "If we can get
the kids into archery, we've hooked the entire family." I agree! Archery
is one of the activities in the SCA that entire families can do together.
A special thank you to Lady Audrey & Lord Thomas Brant of Salem, who
co-autocrated, helped set targets, run the pot luck, ran troll, cleaned up
(plus sewing 20 bow socks); the Honorable Lady Eleanor and Christophe of
Grey who provided the amazing Grand Crusader scrolls and other prizes, and
ran the thrown weapons and atlatl battle. Thanks also to Tristan de Lupo
who assisted me all day Friday and much of Saturday. Also our thanks to
Baron Oshi for cooking, and the Taylorwood gals for making bow socks and
keeping the Gate items, and Elena for bow sock prizes.
We thank Andreas and his cirurgien helpers and CiTs. I'm afraid we didn't
give you much work, (which gave Andreas the opportunity to try our a
bow!) Our thanks to the Dark Lady and crew for offering the lunch food on
Saturday as well. Etienne for running the A&S, the Vendors who attended,
and, thank you to all the rest of you who assisted to make this a very
successful event.
The Bardic was awesome, and Baroness Wolfsinger was our winner! If she
would please contact us privately, we have a prize for her.
We'll post the archery scores on the archery website for those interested
in knowing where they ranked compared to others.
Lord Tim Barfoot - autocrat
Lady Lorelei Greenleafe - MiC
