Noble Friends,
Here's the latest from the BBC on the Richard III flap:
A prominent academic who worked on the search for Richard III clams the late king would have wanted a Catholic funeral: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-essex-21786634 . Logical, but the Leicester Cathedral officials had already decided the funeral would be Anglican, though they did invite Catholic participation. Richard most certainly had a Catholic funeral mass when he was first buried in Greyfriars church, so the question is really one for church lawyers to debate.
Richard III has sparked a surge in tourist visits to Leicester Cathedral: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leicestershire-21823934 . The cathedral docents have been overwhelmed, or at least whelmed. In a way, this is what much of the York-Leicester scrapping is about: tourists and their money, not what is the proper and respectful way to deal with Richard's remains.
Yours Aye,
Lord Mungo Napier, The Archer of Mallard Lodge
