Hello, folks!

The requests I've gotten for my handout and CD for Beginner's Stories has been *very* gratifying. And I've been saying to those who offered to compensate me "Oh, no, don't bother, I've got it covered". Well, now I must eat those words. So if you *want* to compensate me, feel free to send me $2 per CD. If you're just getting one, for heaven's sake, don't worry about it. But there are some people I'm sending a dozen so they can distribute them (which I think is wonderful) and the costs are racking up. Now, if you can't afford it, don't worry about it. Send me whatever you can. If you're distributing them for me, and you send me $2 per CD, feel free to charge the same when you hand them out. I have no problem with you getting your money back. If you charge more (and I find out), I'll be disappointed in you and won't send you any more CDs.

"But Dervila," you say, "why don't you send the audio files out electronically?" Well, I put them in a jewel case so I can insert liner notes with the names of the stories. And then there's copyright. I write copyright claims on the CD and liner notes. As I say in the beginning of the handout,

"Copyright Amerie Helton 2013. For personal non-profit use only.
...
If you don’t change [the stories] significantly, please give me credit. Say something like 'I got this story from Mistress Dervila, a storyteller from Atlantia' "

I just don't want people profiting from my intellectual property. If you change the stories significantly, then hey, they're yours, and you can do with them what you want. In fact, it you've made them your own and you can make money off them, more power to you!

If you want to send me a check, make it out to Amerie Helton and send it to P.O. Box 272, Canton, NC 28716.

And thank you for your interest in storytelling.

Yours,
Dervila
