Greetings one and all!
Lochmere's Mid Winter's Revel is going to be great fun in that Italian/French flare!
Its going to be a grand day of dancing and bardic
It is a time to show off your bardic talents, what ever form that might be!
There are only 40 seats left for the feast. And oh what a feast it will be!!
It's filling up very fast and the Italian players have quite a show that will make you laugh and giggle the whole time. I promise.
There will be a Montebanc that will be selling his wares - a live auction with two great handmade items.
The classes that are going to be taught are awesome.
These are all fabulous classes that I hope everyone will take full
advantage of. Learn something new and get it ready for the Spring event Novice Display.
The Down and Dirty Oil Lamp class (Lady Christiana Iarina Chaykinaia) 10 am
This is an opportunity to participate in a hands-on workshop/class on
the history and construction of oil lamps. All materials will be
provided. If more than 10 people are interested, a hand out will still
be provided but the number of "kits" is limited. There is no fee for
this class. Please be aware that this project actually involves fire and
as a parent, and an instructor, I am not comfortable with anyone under
the age of 16 participating. Thank you for your understanding.
A Comparison of 14th and 16th Century Madrigals (Mistress Arianna Morgan) 11am
Are these two poetic/musical forms related? What do they sound like? Who
wrote them? Wait a minute; did you say Madrigals written in the 14th
Century? Learn the answers to these and other questions as we explore
the definition, purpose, characteristics, historical background,
context, and musical attributes of 14th and 16th century Madrigals. A
basic knowledge of music is helpful, but not required.
1 hour, no fee,
no limit to class size.
Into to early period embroidery (Lady Lucia Thaylur) 11am
This is a hands on class where students will learn split, stem or
outline and chain stitches. Class size is limited to 6 students. All
materials will be furnished and students wish to keep their hoops they
may purchase them from me. What students should bring to class is a
sense of humor and a desire to learn. Time frame should be 1 hour.
Basic Russian Clothing for Men and Women (Lady Christiana Iarina Chaykinaia) 1 pm
An introductory class on Russian clothing from 600-1600 AD. Viking,
Byzantine, Mongolian and German influence on Russian clothing over time
will be discussed. Handouts will be available for in-class viewing with
either flash-drive or (if we run out) e-mailed electronic copies given
to each attendee. This is being done as the expense of hard copies
exceeds $17 each and I am attempting to make this a no cost class for
those that wish to attend. Suggested class size is 12 or smaller. If
there is particular interest I will do my best to accommodate.
Shakespeare’s Original Pronunciation (Master Corun) 2pm.
This is based on work done by Sir Dave Crystal, foremost English
language scholar, and his son Ben Crystal, an actor working at the Globe
Theater in London. There will be handouts, and mostly this will be
lecture. 1 hour.
Introduction to hand sewing and embroidery (Lady Christiana Iarina Chaykinaia) 2 pm
A hands-on and take home project using basic hand sewing techniques and
embroidery stitches will be discussed and worked on and all supplies
will be provided along with a handout. If more than 12 people are
interested in participating, handouts will be provided but there are a
limited number of kits available. There is no fee for this class.
Liz’s Lucet-less Lucet (Lady Elizabeth Henley of Lochmere) 3 pm
Creating simple lucet cords with or without a lucet. I can easily take
on up to 10 people, and provide the supplies ... though anyone who has a
lucet should bring it as it's easiest to learn on the one that you
intend to use - and the reason I prefer teaching it "lucet-less" is that
not only do I only own a couple, but it's harder to lose your fingers
accidentally than your lucet.
Thank you so much,
Lady Madeleine Rose de Cardeville ((Maddy))
