Noble Friends,

Didn't I tell you Richard III would bring us a lot of entertainment? Things are getting interesting in ways I never dreamed!

Today the BBC reports on a politician from Scarborough claiming that "Leicester can't be trusted" with Richard's remains: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-21370580 . Ouch! That's a pretty nasty charge, but hey, this is a politician speaking.

Officials at York Minster have declined to have Richard buried in their church, citing his long . . . uh . . . association with Leicester: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-york-north-yorkshire-21373538 . Is this municipal treason?

Leicester has moved quickly to cash in on Richard. They have opened a new exhibition in their Guildhall, possibly to help cement their claim to the body: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leicestershire-21371891 . There are big bucks to be made from tourists here.

Now a local politician in Kent wants the alleged grave of one of Richard's bastard sons dug up so DNA testing can be done on the body: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-kent-21366578 .

Will anyone else climb on this bandwagon? You bet! Royal exhumations are on the way to being big business. Folks over in Bury St. Edmunds think the very late King Edmund (a saint after being used for target practice by Viking archers) is under a tennis court near the old abbey: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-suffolk-21351719 .

"It ain't over till it's over," as they say in baseball. I'm sure there's much more to come!

Yours Aye,
